Medusa Marine is a full service marine consultancy, providing pre-purchase surveys, damage surveys,valuations and insurance surveys. This service is built on the extensive  knowledge acquired over a lifetime career of designing, building, repairing and certifying vessels of all types and sizes.

Over 200 boats have passed through our workshops including a number of extensive repairs and refits of seriously flood and fire damaged vessels, some of which can be seen on these web pages. Restorations of classic wooden vessels have included an S&S Finisterre, a Robert Clarke Mystery Class and several Dragons and Loch Longs. We have also completed new builds, these have been private contracts and have included both Motor Yachts and Sailing Yachts.

Compliance has also been a speciality. New builds have been certified to RCD Class A (ocean) and Class B (offshore) with technical construction files and owners handbooks prepared in house. Also over 20 boats have been prepared for DOT code of practice for commercial vessels. We are no longer involved in build and restoration, concentrating solely on Marine Surveying and passing on the benefit of the knowledge and experience acquired.

Medusa Marine is the trading title of Richard Thomas, a Full Member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects RINA and an accredited member of the Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association YDSA and work to their standards and practices.  He is a fully qualified surveyor, registered to undertake Tonnage Measurements for the UK Ship Register. He is also a Nominated Surveyor for MCA Coding of commercial vessels.
